Building a Blogging Network
So, what does it take to build a blogging network? What is a blogging network? Well, to me, a blogging network is a community. A community of people who either share the same interests, be it blogging or a particular subject like Cycling. There are lots of blogging networks out there, but perhaps the most well known is weblogsinc.com. That network has been getting lots of press lately and it could have something to do with the fact that the president seems to really like the attention. But, regardless of what you think of their front man, they have been very successful…and that will most likely continue to snowball for some time.
The point is, blogging, while it may seem a little “blown out” to many of us, is just getting started. Think about the millions of people that are out there that don’t even use the internet yet. Then tack on all of the AOLers and people who don’t use the internet for anything other than email. There is still a huge growth spirt that the blogging community will see in the near future. To me, blogging and multi-user blogging environments are a better community tool than say a forum. While forums allow for instant feedback, blogs provide a more stable environment for people to interact in. With a forum, if you do not log in for a few days, you can miss a lifetime of events. Blogging is more stable and static and lets people discuss more complex topics much more easily.
These are a couple of the reasons why I am so hot on building a blog network. I think that it is not only fun, but it can add a tremendous amount of value to people all over the world. That is really cool.
